The Process makes it Possible

“It’s Possible, for a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage.”- Fairy Godmother, Whitney Houston.

One day I was looking out the window at the construction site across the street from my job where they were preparing to build a new shopping center. The process just to ready the foundation of the building was quite intriguing. Did you know that they must first sift through the dirt just to get it prepared for the cement foundation? I mean seriously, it’s dirt. The dirt sat, got sifted, a white substance (not cement) was added and then had to be mixed in and blended. I never realized that even the ground had to be ready for the foundation of the building. However, I guess this time when the dirt returned to the ground, it was ready to be built on.

As I looked at all the hard work that had to gone into getting the dirt prepared for the foundation, the Lord whispers to me, “You have a problem with process.” I was shocked, like, God really? Me? I was taken back. I felt as though my life up to this point had been nothing but a process and a practice of patience.

The more I pondered on what God had told me, I realized that God was right. I recently just started back in the gym with a trainer and on my first day my legs gave out on me within 15 minutes of training. Now this is something I had never experienced but I also had never lifted any weights. I knew that after being sore for week I would have to prepare a little differently. New territory means a new foundation from the way you think to the way that you prepare. So, I went back to my meal preps and all the water, to the grocery store I went and to my amazon cart I filled with things to prepare me for my new fitness journey. New water bottle, food scale, protein shakes, vitamins, etc. Now even though my muscles still hurt after each session, the length of time in which they hurt has lessened due to my preparedness. My days are now filled with energy and my mindset towards training and discipline has gone from anxiousness to anticipation.

Sometimes each process that God takes you through, I think is to prepare you for the purpose he has for you. One thing about God is that he will never put you in a place He hasn’t prepared you for.

You see, if Cinderella just thought her Fairy God-mother was just being silly into thinking those pumpkins could be her ride to the ball, she would have never gotten there. Had I bowed out after my first session in the gym after experiencing sore muscles, I would still be wishing I could lose weight by thinking about it every day. Ha! And unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way.

Someone once said, “Fear and Faith produce the same things.” Fear produces the very outcome you don’t want while Faith produces the outcome you do want. So, you have to decide which one you want to chose, Fear and get no where or Faith and get to the purpose God has for you.

Remember that you can do all things, through Christ who is your strength! God’s way isn’t always the most comfortable way but it is the best way.
